Toby Green has participated in many radio and television programmes. He presented the award-winning 2006 TV documentary "Yamanas", directed by award-winning Italian director Tullio Bernabei, and has appeared on TV chatshows and cultural programmes in Argentina, Brazil, Britain, Portugal and Uruguay. Most recently, he appeared on Globo TV's thirty minute "Milenio" interview in Brazil, on RTP's flagship cultural programme "A Forca das Coisas", RTP´s Africa channel and TVI´s "Revista da Imprensa" in Portugal, and presented a short film for the Guardian website on the Darwin bicentenary.

On radio, he has been interviewed by Isabel Hilton on Radio 3's Night Waves, Radio 4's Open Book and also several times on Excess Baggage, as well as on Radio 2, local radio, and stations in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

Toby Green's books have also been the subject of major interviews and reviews in newspapers in Argentina, Britain, Brazil, Holland, Norway, Portugal and Uruguay.

Public Appearances

Toby is an experienced public speaker, and has given public lectures at the Royal Geographical Society, Canning House, Chelsea's Physic Garden, the Royal Botanical Gardens at Edinburgh and the “Ways with Words” Dartington Literary Festival. He has also chaired events with the philosopher John Gray at the Royal Society of Arts, the philosopher AC Grayling and the Darwin biographer James Moore.

Toby has lectured widely internationally, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. He has made appearances at the Oslo International Film Festival, the Montevideo Book Fair, and at the Museo Renault in Buenos Aires. He has also given public lectures at the British Academy and the Instituto de Investigação Científica Tropical in Lisbon.



Lectures

Toby can give keynote speeches and lectures on many subjects, drawing on his wide range of historical and practical knowledge of the past and present in Africa, America and Europe. As well as giving lectures relating to his books, he can also lecture on these subjects:
